Christine DuRoss
Psychotherapist, Registered Social Worker, Certified Hypnotherapist
For as long as I can remember, I knew I wanted to work with people and felt fascinated by the spectrum of emotion and the ways we, as humans, respond to life.
I was the kind of teenager who would tell you she’s going to be a therapist, and subscribed to Psychology Today magazine at age 16. I studied psychology and then completed a Masters in Social Work at the University of Toronto in 2010, followed by various post-graduate trainings. I have a special interest in the interconnectedness between the mind and body, health, and neurobiology, and have developed a holistic and integrative approach to my work over the years. I’ve had some twists and turns on my own journey – including some major health issues and some losses that changed the way my family existed – which have helped me to understand the pivotal role for support, and the nuanced complexity of our human existence.
What I’ve come to know is that therapy can be a place to explore and unfold. Building meaningful therapeutic relationships and providing space for clients to express themselves honestly and authentically are the root of good therapy. I feel honoured to be with my clients on their journeys of self-discovery, healing and growth.
